The importance of citizen involvement in urban transformations has grown significantly as cities strive to become more citizen-centric. Placing citizens at the forefront of urban change is crucial for creating resilient, sustainable and inclusive urban spaces that meet the needs of all residents. Consequently, directly collecting data and insights from citizens is essential for the sustainable development of cities.
Engaging citizens in urban transformation processes fosters a more responsive, fair and robust urban environment. This approach promotes a sense of collective responsibility and progress toward building cities that genuinely prioritize the well-being of all residents. However, the implementation of public participation often falls short in effectively engaging citizens, resulting in less successful participatory outcomes. [-]
