Many tribological tests have been developed in the last decades to emulate real cold forging processes at laboratory conditions and to obtain friction coefficients at different process conditions. In this paper a new tribotester is designed and numerically validated to reach extreme contact conditions, high normal contact pressure and surface enlargement, for warm temperature testing of lubricants starting from material in the form of thick sheets or precuts. The numerical simulations prove that this is possible by the use of a combined bending and ironing test. [-]
